Hi, I'm Sofia!

I am a graphic designer, illustrator and tattoo artist with my own studio in Malmö.

I am also soon to be a certified coach! As a coach, I will focus on strengthening people's relationship to their creativity, and guide those who want to start their own business in a holistic way.

Thanks to coaching, I have learnt to become a better listener and therefore a better designer, curious about what's important to you about the project you need design help with.

If you have any questions, drop me a line or read my Q&A below.

Questions and answers about graphic design, illustration and coaching 💭 💬

💭 What is graphic design?

💬 In my work as a graphic designer, it is often about combining text and image in a neat and easy-to-understand way. It is the art of presenting an idea or a project in a way that conveys the feeling, atmosphere and message that you want it to convey. Graphic design can be expressed as logos, websites, books, posters, instagram posts, patterns, and much more.

💭 What is illustration?

💬 Similar to graphic design, it is to convey an idea in the form of an image, but usually without the text. I generally make illustrations on behalf of a person or organization, in which case I first need to ask, listen and understand to what their idea and message is, so that I can create images that carry the meaning they want. It can be about conveying a certain mood (e.g. playful, serious, magical, 1950s, anarchistic, peaceful), targeting specific target groups (e.g. middle-aged businessmen, 11-year-old school children, yogis), using specific colors, etc.

💬 Coaching is like being a mirror! It means to listen to another person while they talk about something they want help with, and asking reflective questions that help them find their own answers. Coaching differs from therapy in that coaching is often about what a person wants to accomplish now or in the future, and it does not delve as deeply into one's past as therapy does, although coaching often also touches on sensitive topics. My niche as a coach is my experience as an artist and entrepreneur, to be the support for others that I had needed when I myself struggled with failing inspiration and self-confidence or with the "clash" between creativity and commercialism. I coach according to the ICF code of ethics, which means, among other things, that what we talk about in a coaching session is confidential. You can read more about how I work as a coach under the Coaching tab in the menu.

💭 What is coaching?

💭 If I want to commission you to make a logotype / book / poster, how do I do?

💬 It starts with you sending me an email to lindholm.sofia@gmail.com and telling me what it is you would need design help with. Maybe you have a budget, maybe you have a deadline, maybe we will brainstorm ideas. We will negotiate a price that we are both satisfied with and write a contract that specifies, among other things, the number of sketch rounds and how the finished result is to be delivered. I will, in consultation with you, make a timetable with deadlines for sketching rounds and final delivery. During the process, we will be in touch continuously and I will show what I am working on, to be sure that we mean the same thing and that the project will look the way you want it to.

💭 What does the design process look like?

💬 At the beginning of a project, I will ask a lot of questions and "interview" you in order to understand exactly what it is that you want: what message you want it to convey, what ideas you have, what colors you want, etc. I will explain the framework around how I work: that I strive to get as clear an idea as possible from you at the very beginning of the project, and that I will ask for your feedback and changes according to agreed feedback rounds. A feedback round means that I make sketches for you to see, that you feedback me on, so that we together find our way forward in the project. There are usually two feedback rounds in a design project (depending on the size of it), followed by the final delivery. I do my best to listen and take in your views and wishes, and I try to balance them with my experiences of shape and color. I'd appreciate if you'd trust me to solve minor design-related issues that arise during the course of the work.

💭 How much does it cost?

💬 It depends on what needs to be done – how many pages, how many illustrations, how big a poster, how complicated the logo. Get in touch and tell me what you want help with, and we'll talk about it. The Swedish VAT on most design services is 25%.
